Here's what we were working with - a cramped basement utility space with wiring running every direction, an outdated 100 amp service, and a setup that just couldn't keep up with the demands of a modern home. Older homes like this one weren't built with today's power loads in mind. That gap catches up with homeowners eventually.

We upgraded the service to 200 amps and installed a new panel, which gave us the opportunity to consolidate circuits and get everything organized the right way. The difference that makes isn't just cosmetic - it means fewer trips to reset breakers, less strain on the system, and actual capacity for things like EV chargers, updated HVAC, or anything else the homeowner might want down the road.

One thing we're proud of on this one - we saved our client real money by inspecting the existing mast pipe and determining it was solid enough to keep. We bonded and secured it properly rather than replacing it outright. That's the kind of call that only makes sense when you actually know what you're looking at. A lot of guys would have swapped it just to pad the invoice.

Outside, the finished service entrance looks clean and secure against the brick exterior - properly run conduit, a new meter base, and everything sitting the way it should. Our crew had two guys working the job at the same time, one handling the exterior service entrance work while the other tackled the basement panel installation. That kind of coordination keeps the job moving without cutting corners.

A 200 amp panel upgrade isn't just an electrical project. It's one of the better investments a homeowner can make in an older house - both for safety and for long-term flexibility. If your home is still running on 100 amp service, it's worth having someone take a look.
